The St. George Hall

The large St. George's Hall was once called "of the Chapel" because, from the wall on the south side, an elegant 15th-century portal led to the Court Chapel dedicated to St. George, built by the Aragonese in the median court of the south side of the Castle. The remains of columns that can still be seen today show that this room was originally surmounted by three cross vaults, which were replaced by a wooden ceiling in the 15th century. In the 16th century, the Spanish Viceroys built large rectangular windows in this room to make it brighter.
