Jupiter's Torso

Large headless male torso. Fragment of colossal statue depicting a Roman emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty dressed as Jupiter. It was found in 1737 in the area of the former convent of Saint Augustine, near the theater. It was entrusted in 1743 by the City Senate to Prince Biscari, becoming one of the main pieces of his museum.
