This tower, in ancient times called "dei Magazzini", was damaged more times than the others by the earthquake of 1693: the walls were thinned inside in such a way as to change the characteristic octagonal shape of the room. Poorly rebuilt, it suffered attacks in 1848 and several restorations that modified its structure. Today it is home to the elevator and the staircase that leads to the upper floors.
